Open Position: Legal Assistant

Our boutique litigation law firm seeks a Legal Assistant to join the team of two paralegals, office administrator, law clerks, and six attorneys. DeLaney & DeLaney maintains a relaxed, collegial, and productive workplace environment. We accommodate flexible hours requests and hybrid in-person and remote work. We offer a robust benefits package. Located in an historic house between downtown and midtown Indianapolis, we keep our office doors open and encourage collaboration. Responsibilities include:

  • Interact with Clients, Guests, and Vendors – Answer and screen incoming calls, interview prospective clients, draft summary of prospective clients’ needs. Communicate with vendors, clients, and other attorneys
  • Billing and payments – Assist with timekeeping software, posting payments, generating bills for clients, posting reimbursable expenses and managing outside vendor quotes
  • Reception – Welcome guests to the office, meet with vendors, manage incoming and outgoing mail, scan and copy documents, monitor office supplies and make orders as necessary
  • File Maintenance – Electronically manage and file client documents and court filings, manage firm information and data, prepare outgoing mail
  • Calendar appointments, deadlines, conference calls, and Zoom meetings for attorneys and paralegals
  • Assist paralegals with a range of responsibilities, such as drafting documents and legal correspondence


  • College graduate preferred but equivalent on the job experience will be considered
  • Experience in a professional office environment. Prefer experience in a law firm or legal department
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and other applications
  • Experience with Clio preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests
