December 2008 Announcements
Ed DeLaney has been appointed to the following Committees in the State Legislature: Ways and Means, Judiciary, and Elections. Ed will also be at our office daily.
Effective January 1, 2008, Kathleen DeLaney will be the Chair of the Indianapolis Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section for a one year term.
November 2008 Announcements
On November 13, the Indiana Court of Appeals issued an opinion on Kevin D. Burke v. Duke Bennett. Opinion of the Indiana Court of Appeals. This is a key decision dealing with qualification to hold public office in Indiana.
Congratulations to partner Ed DeLaney on his election to represent Indiana House of Representatives District 86. Ed would like to thank everyone for their support during the campaign. While serving as a member of the state legislature, Ed will continue to practice law full-time at DeLaney & DeLaney LLC.
Also, congratulations to Ann DeLaney, for being nominated by the Indianapolis Business Journal as one of 2008's Most Influential Women.

October 2008 Annoucements
Ed DeLaney and Kathleen DeLaney were both selected by their peers for inclusion in the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Ed has been selected for his specialty in Commercial Litigation and Kathleen has been selected in the specialties of Commercial Litigation and Labor and Employment Law. Ed has joined an elite group that has been selected to The Best Lawyers in America for ten years or longer.
September 2008 Announcements
Kari Lukasik was featured in the September issue of the The Precedent, the newsletter for the Indiana Paralegal Association.

Kari Lukasik was honored with the New Member Paralegal of the Year Award for her hard work and dedication during her first year of membership with the IPA. As a Purdue University graduate, Ms. Lukasik began her career in the legal community as an entry level assistant in 2004. Just three short years later, Ms. Lukasik demonstrates her skills and leadership as a paralegal within her firm and within IPA. She is currently studying for the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (“PACE”). During 2007, Ms. Lukasik joined IPA and immediately became involved in the development of the parlegal profession by working on the fundraising committee. She also demonstrated a leadership role in helping to organize and facilitate a PACE Study Group for paralegals interested in sitting for the PACE examination (Precedent, 13).

The United States Supreme Court recently cited to a case involving a DeLaney & DeLaney firm client. In 2007, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Judicial Circuit ruled in favor of our client in reversing a District Court decision which had granted defendant Guidant Corporation's motion to dismiss on standing grounds. The Seventh Circuit reversed and remanded the case where it remains pending currently. On February 20, 2008, in a majority opinion authored by Justice John Paul Stevens, the U.S. Supreme Court cited with favor Harzewski v. Guidant Corp., 489 F.3d 799 (7th Cir. 2007). See James LaRue v. DeWolff, Boberg & Assocs., Inc., 128 S.Ct. 1020, 1026 at n. 6 (Feb. 20, 2008).
Also, Ed DeLaney presented a Oral Argument in front of the Indiana Court of Appeals in the case Kevin D. Burke v. Duke Bennett.
